a tale of bleak futures
i am but a dying man, like winds that blow thru shifting sand.
the days drift by like streams that flow, to perish where they choose to go.
life holds up in empty bubble, bursting under toil and trouble.
my eyes they cease to stop and rest, ignore the shattered dreams a-mess.
i find no peace in quiet silence, head writhing in awful violence.
denial spurns a blinding fire, hope is charged as blatent liar.
love is lost to cruel fate, lying abandoned left for dead.
my heart has no mouth it cannot speak, my soul no mind it cannot seek.
the secrets within buried untold, truth has no more place to go.
in my bed i drown in fear, tomorrow no longer is so near.
i must not betray my sorrow, searching for a peace to borrow.
i tried to come without a tear, i would sure hate to break down here.
seconds vanish in no sound, nothing seems to talk me round.
i just want to run away, but may not find another day.
waiting for a fate half-sealed, the broken spirit cannot heal.
a year so good yet gone all wrong, still so short yet seems so long.
yesterday was fine for me, present locked in history.
the days ahead smell of death, life long lost in single breath.
sometimes i long to sleep and never, awake to morn and live forever.
i can't bear the day we have to embrace, goodbye and sing amazing grace.
then they'll make me fly away, far from you where i will stay.
and when i return you'd see me no more, i won't be who i was before.
the girl who laughed and never cried, the girl whose happiness was denied.
this is what it's all about -- a dying man whose time runs out.
